Inspiration for the handmade silver, aquamarine, starfish, tide pool and birthstone necklace is drawn from spending time at the local beach and around the coast of Dorset.  A starfish is featured with a unique tide pool.  As the sea sweeps in and out, little pools of water are collected, leaving the pebbles sitting in the pool in its wake. 

The starfish is 3 dimensional and is reversible.  If you prefer the textured side, just remove the starfish from the chain and turn it around!
The tide pool is created from a 1.5cm silver disc which is reticulated - the process of heating and cooling the silver 7 times and taking to a near melting point - to evoke the impression of ripples of water with the sea breeze blowing over the coast onto the tide pool.  Recycled silver is used to create the pebbles in the water and a beautiful genuine nugget of aquamarine is wrapped to the chain.  The aquamarine is the birthstone of March and has been specifically chosen because of its Latin meaning "aqua" = water and "mar" = sea.  Legend has it that mermaids tails were made of aquamarine!  Each tide pool will be slightly different in its shape and size because of the process of reticulation.
