Dionysus Pendant

This gorgeous amethyst pendant with its rough-cut gemstone (appearing as if it has just been taken from its sparkling cave), has drawn its name from Greek mythology.

Dionysus became intoxicated on red wine and showed his anger against the young virgin Amethyst by setting tigers onto her.  In her distress she turned to the Greek Goddess Diana who turned her into a shimmering white quartz stone.  When Dionysus realised the consequences of his actions, he cried tears into his goblet. When it overturned the red wine spilled onto the quartz and soaked it and so it became the beautiful gem we now know as Amethyst.

A stunning stone which is inset into this hand hammered domed disc necklace.  It is a  gift, perfect all the year round - but especially suitable for ladies with a birthday in February.
